Police ID 7-Eleven shooting victim

Kamloops RCMP continue to appeal to the public for information regarding a fatal shooting outside the downtown 7-Eleven early last month.

Police were called to a report of a shooting in the 600-block of Seymour Street at about 4:30 a.m. on March 11. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. A police medic provided emergency care before the victim was taken to hospital, where he later died.

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Emmanuel “Manny” Brooks. Police have released a photo of Brooks in hopes it will assist investigators.

The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and, as of now, no arrests have been made.

“We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who has information that could assist investigators, to please contact police,” said Kevin McIntyre. “We are also interested in hearing from anyone with video surveillance or dash-cam footage from the surrounding area during the early-morning hours.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2026-7304.
